Dallas SPCA Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center

Dallas is now home to what D Magazine is calling
SPCA TEXAS' new "Animal Kingdom" located
at 2400 Lonestar Drive in west Dallas.
After 40 years, SPCA has moved into a new 70,000 SF complex, open January 2012. Offering low cost pet check ups, treatment and surgery as well as a new animal adoption center.

Hinojosa Architecture and Interiors is the creative force behind the innovative concept of "jewel boxes" as dog enclosures, expanding the size of each enclosure for the comfort of each animal.
What a difference from animal shelters of our past! This beautiful space is not only full of innovative solutions for technicians, but also offers a comfortable space for families in search of their new pet.

Happy New Year!
The new year in Florence, Italy brings an amazing new Opera Theatre: Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
The facade of this modern Italian landmark is clad in
KERLITE thin porcelain tile:
During the production process of Cotto d'Este Laminated Stoneware, a unique digital printing system is employed to create Kerlite Auditorium, a light laminated stoneware with exceptional technical and aesthetic characteristics: acid-resistant and weatherproof, resistant, easy to install, cut and drill. With a thickness of only 3.5 mm and special "customised" sizes, such as the 50x150 cm, as well as the 28 different designs, Kerlite harmoniously blends into the surrounding environment.
The intrinsic properties of Kerlite make it the most eco-compatible product currently available on the market. Its environmental impact has been reduced to a minimum and its performance cannot be equalled by any natural stone.
Considered "a true rebirth of the theatre", this new space is re-introducing "those functions of the theatre as it was envisioned by the ancient Greeks.....most used locale in the city for entertainment, education, art, music and drama."

To celebrate the Christmas season, Horizon enjoyed a wonderful Italian meal at
Princi Italia. Not only does Princi Italia have a delicious variety of Italian dishes, they also have Horizon Tile
installed! It is always so fun to enjoy each other's company outside of the showroom, reflecting on the past year and the new challenges for the coming year. We are fortunate to have such a great team! Happy Holidays to all of our wonderful designers, architects, contractors and residential customers. Here is to an exciting 2012!

Over the river and thru the woods to Grandmother's house we go!
In observance on the Thanksgiving holiday, Horizon will be closed on Thursday November 24th and Friday November 25th. We will resume normal business hours on Monday November 28th.
This is the time of year we are reminded how thankful we are for so many things, especially the support of our contractors, designers and residential customers.

Ceramic Tiles of Italy Design Competition 2012

Every year Ceramic Tiles of Italy hold a design competition for the most innovative design projects using Italian tiles. Sponsored by the Italian Trade Commission, the competition "recognizes the exceptional work of North American architects and designers who feature Italian ceramic tiles in their institutional, residential, or commercial/hospitality design spaces."
The best part of this competition? Winners not only receive a cash prize of $4000, they also win a trip to
Italia to attend
Cersaie 2012 which is the worlds largest exhibition for ceramic tile!
New construction and renovation projects completed between January 2007 and January 2012 are eligible for entry.

Coverings 2011

Horizon's sales team just returned from attending Coverings, held this year in Las Vegas. As usual many factories exhibiting at the show offered great new product introductions like a new 2x2 glass mosaic with post consumer recycled content. We love the reintroduction of this larger square mosaic! Wood looks were abundant as well as more beautiful stone looks in a variety of stones. Keep your eyes peeled for new arrivals to Horizon's warehouse!
